[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11940, June 15, 2023 ]
AN ACT EXTENDING THE TERM OF OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ADIONG MEMORIAL STATE COLLEGE FROM THREE (3) YEARS TO FOUR (4) YEARS IN ACCORDANCE WITH REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8292, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE "HIGHER EDUCATION MODERNIZATION ACT OF 1997", FURTHER AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7935, AS AMENDED BY REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8651
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
Section 1. Section 9 of Republic Act No. 7935, as amended by Republic Act No. 8651, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 3. The State College shall be headed by a president who shall render full-time service. The president shall be appointed by the Board, subject to its guidelines, qualifications, and standards and upon the recommendation of the duly constituted search committee, for a term of four (4) years, eligible for reappointment for another term.

Section 2. The Governing Board of the State College, in consultation with the Commission on Higher Education, shall formulate the guidelines to fully implement the provisions of this Act within ninety (90) days from the effectivity.
Section 3. The provisions of Republic Act No. 8292, otherwise known as the "Higher Education Modernization Act of 1997", shall form part of this Act.
Section 4. This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.

This Act, which originated in the House of Representatives, was passed by the House of Representatives on September 19, 2022, amended by the Senate of the Philippines on March 20, 2023, and which amendments were concurred in by the House of Representatives on March 22, 2023.
