AN ACT ESTABLISHING A SEPARATE CITY SCHOOLS DIVISION OFFICE IN THE CITY OF PUERTO PRINCESA, PROVINCE OF PALAWAN, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FIVE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIX, ENTITLED "AN ACT CREATING THE CITY OF PUERTO PRINCESA"
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
Section 1. Section 22, Article VI of Republic Act No. 5906 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"ARTICLE VI. Relation to Bureaus and Other Offices.
"Section 22. The Department of Education, Culture and Sports. – The Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports shall exercise the same jurisdiction and powers in the city as elsewhere in the Philippines, and the city schools superintendent shall be the head of the city schools. He shall have all the powers and duties in respect to the schools of the city as are vested in division superintendents in respect to schools of their division: Provided, That salaries of the supervisors, principals, teachers, and other operational expenses of the primary, intermediate, high schools, and other public schools in the city shall be borne by the national government: Provided, further, That the powers and duties of the local government as contained in the Local Government Code in support of the schools shall not be abridged, curtailed or diminished."
Section 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
