[ REPUBLIC ACT No. 7936, March 01, 1995 ]

AN ACT CONVERTING THE SAN FRANCISCO HIGH SCHOOL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MALILIPOT, PROVINCE OF ALBAY, INTO THE SAN FRANCISCO INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. The San Francisco High School located in the Municipality of Malilipot, Province of Albay, is hereby converted into an institute of science and technology to be known as the San Francisco Institute of Science and Technology, hereinafter referred to as the Institute.

Section 2. The Institute shall be under the direct supervision of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, hereinafter referred to as the TESDA and shall be headed by a vocational school superintendent.

Section 3. In order not to disrupt the present administrative operation of the San Francisco High School, the faculty of the school composed of teachers, instructors, master teachers and heads of departments as well as the other personnel shall be absorbed by the new Institute: Provided, That the position, rights and security of tenure of the faculty and personnel shall not be impaired: Provided, further, That the incumbent school administrator shall act as the first vocational school superintendent pending the appointment of a permanent head of the Institute.

Section 4. In addition to its present two-year technical education curriculum, the Institute shall offer post-secondary science and technology courses, vocational training courses and such other courses as may be authorized by the TESDA.1aшphi1

Section 5. All property, assets, monies, funds, existing appropriations, and obligations of the San Francisco High School are hereby transferred to the Institute.

Section 6. The amount necessary for the implementation of this Act shall be charged against the current year's appropriations of the San Francisco High School. Thereafter, such sums as may be necessary for its operation and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

Section 7. This Act shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
