[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 5828, June 21, 1969 ]
AN ACT AMENDING SECTIONS TWENTY-THREE, TWENTY-FOUR, TWENTY-SEVEN, TWENTY-EIGHT, THIRTY-TWO AND THIRTY-SEVEN OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FOUR THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED FIFTY-FOUR, KNOWN AS THE REVISED CHARTER OF THE CITY OF DAVAO.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
Section 1. Sections twenty-three and twenty-four and the portions of the paragraphs of Sections twenty-seven, twenty-eight, thirty-two and thirty-seven preceding the subparagraphs thereof, respectively, of the Revised Charter of the City of Davao are hereby amended to read as follows :
"Section 23. The General Auditing Office.-The Auditor General shall receive and audit all accounts of the city, in accordance with the provisions of law relating to government accounts and accounting. The city auditor shall be appointed by the Auditor General and shall receive the same salary of the city treasurer per annum, one half to be paid by the National Government and the other half by the city, and the assistant city auditor shall receive a salary of twelve thousand pesos per annum, to be paid by the city.
"Section 24. The Bureau of Public Schools.-The Director of Public Schools shall exercise the same jurisdiction and powers in the city as elsewhere in the Philippines, and the city superintendent of schools, who shall receive a compensation of fifteen thousand pesos per annum, and the assistant city superintendent of schools who shall receive a salary of twelve thousand pesos per annum, to be paid by the city, and shall perform the duties in the absence or incapacity of the former, shall have all the powers and duties in respect to the schools of the city as are vested in division superintendents in respect to schools of their division: Provided, That the operational expenses of primary, intermediate, and high schools shall be borne by the National Government, as provided for by law.
"Section 27. The City Treasurer-His powers and duties.- There shall be a city treasurer who shall have charge of the Department of Finance and shall act as chief fiscal officer and financial adviser of the city and custodian of its funds. He shall receive a salary of fifteen thousand pesos per annum. The city treasurer shall be assisted by an assistant city treasurer who shall receive a salary of twelve thousand pesos per annum to be paid by the city. He shall have the following powers and duties:
"Section 28. The City Engineer-His powers and duties.- There shall be a city engineer who shall have charge of the Department of Engineering and Public Works who shall be assisted by an assistant city engineer. He shall receive a salary of fifteen thousand pesos and the assistant city engineer twelve thousand pesos per annum to be paid by the city. He shall have the following powers and duties:
"Section 32. The City Health Officer-His powers and duties.-There shall be a city health officer who shall have charge of the Department of Health and shall receive a salary of fifteen thousand pesos. The city health officer shall be assisted by an assistant city health officer who shall receive a salary of twelve thousand pesos per annum to be paid by the city. The city health officer shall have the following powers and duties:
"Section 37. The City Assessor-His powers and duties.There shall be a city assessor who shall have charge of the .Department of Assessment and who shall receive a salary of fifteen thousand pesos. He shall have an assistant city assessor who shall receive a salary of twelve thousand pesos per annum to be paid by the city. The city assessor shall have the following powers and duties:"
Section 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.1a⍵⍴h!1
