[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 5492, June 21, 1969 ]
AN ACT AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED THREE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-TWO, ENTITLED "AN ACT CONVERTING THE PRESENT ZAMBOANGA NORMAL SCHOOL INTO ZAMBOANGA NORMAL COLLEGE," AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
Section 1. Section one of Republic Act Numbered Three thousand two hundred and seventy-two is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 1. The present Zamboanga Normal School located in Zamboanga City, Philippines, is hereby converted into Zamboanga State College offering four-year and five-year courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Science in Home Economics, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts in Education, Master of Education, and such other courses with their corresponding degrees in Education, Science, Arts, and Letters on the graduate and undergraduate levels, as are deemed useful and necessary to realize the purposes of the College."
Section 2. Section two of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:
“Section 2. The purpose of said College shall be to provide professional and technical instruction in the fields of elementary, secondary and collegiate education, in science, as well as in the humanities for the Mindanao region with special provisions for national cultural minorities inhabiting therein."
Section 3. Subparagraph (b) of Section five of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(b) To confer the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Science in Home Economics, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts in Education, Master of Education, and such other degrees in Education, Science and Letters as may be offered hereafter to successful candidates for graduation."
Section 4. Section twelve of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 12. The Board of Trustees shall appoint a College Secretary who shall also be the Secretary of the Board of Trustees and shall keep the records of the College as may be designated by the Board."
Section 5. For the purpose of effective supervision of off campus schools in charge of student teaching as well as to provide transportation for members of the College Staff doing research and extension work in the field, the College may provide itself with whatever vehicles as are necessary to carry out its planned program.
Section 6. The original school site acquired for the former Zamboanga Normal School as well as all other school properties of Zamboanga Normal College are hereby transferred, ceded and conveyed to the Zamboanga State College.
Section 7. All provisions of law inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed.1a⍵⍴h!1
Section 8. In order to carry out the purpose of this Act three hundred thousand pesos is hereby authorized to be appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
Section 9. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
