REPUBLIC ACT No. 4349
An Act Converting the Western Visayas School of Fisheries in the Municipality of Estancia, Province of Iloilo, into a College to be Known as the Western Visayas College of Fisheries, and Authorizing the Appropriation of Funds Therefor
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:
Section 1. The Western Visayas School of Fisheries located in the Municipality of Estancia, Province of Iloilo, is hereby converted into a college to be known as the Western Visayas College of Fisheries.
Section 2. The Western Visayas College of Fisheries shall offer, in addition to the secondary fishery curriculum, collegiate course leading to the title of Association in Fishery Education and the degree of Bachelor of Science in Fisheries. It shall also offer special courses, such as fishpond management, fisheries homemaking, fish culture, fish capture and fish preservation.
Section 3. The Western Visayas College of Fisheries shall be headed by a superintendent of fishery and shall be under the Bureau of Vocational Education. The superintendent shall have the direct administration and supervision of this college.
Section 4. The physical and financial assets, liabilities, personnel, equipment, and records of the Western Visayas School of Fisheries are hereby transferred to the Western Visayas College of Fisheries.
Section 5. The sum of five hundred thousand pesos is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the conversion, operation and maintenance of the said college in addition to the present appropriation of the Western Visayas School of Fisheries for the fiscal year nineteen hundred sixty-six. Thereafter, the sum needed for its operation and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Section 6. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
