REPUBLIC ACT No. 4039
An Act Providing for the Establishment of a National Shrine in the Municipality of Kawit, Province of Cavite, to be Known as Freedom Shrine, and Authorizing the Appropriations of Funds Therefor
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:
Section 1. There is established in the Municipality of Kawit, Province of Cavite, a national shrine to be known as Freedom Shrine (Aguinaldo Shrine), which shall comprise the land and the house built thereon donated by the late General Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy to the Republic of the Philippines and accepted on behalf of the Republic of the Philippines by the President of the Philippines on May twenty-four, nineteen hundred sixty-three, as well as lands adjacent thereto whose acquisition by negotiation or expropriation is hereby authorized.
Section 2. There shall be constructed on any vacant place in the land donated by the late General Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy to the Republic of the Philippines, a Freedom House wherein shall be depicted, stage by stage, the important events in the history of the Philippine Revolution against Spain, the Philippine-American War, and the peaceful struggles of the Philippines for independence which culminated in the recognition of the independence of the Philippines on July four, nineteen hundred forty-six.(awÞhi(
Section 3. To carry out the purpose of this Act for the fiscal year nineteen hundred sixty-five, including the repair of the existing house stated in Section hereof, the expenses for landscaping, payment of adjacent lots which shall be acquired by negotiation or expropriation, the construction of a park thereon and payment of salaries of necessary personnel, the sum of one million pesos is hereby authorized to be appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Such sums as may be necessary for the maintenance of the said Freedom Shrine (Aguinaldo Shrine) in subsequent years shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Section 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
