REPUBLIC ACT No. 2685

An Act to Promote Career Incentives in the Medical Corps of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Authorizing the Appropriation of Funds Therefor, and for Other Purposes

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:

Section 1. Thereafter, any officer of the Medical Corps of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on active duty shall receive one hundred pesos monthly as an incentive he pay, in addition to the salary and other allowances he is entitled to receive under existing laws and regulations: Provided, That such incentive pay shall not accrue in his favor in time of war or declared national emergency, or while said officer is receiving additional pay for overseas service involving war or under conditions approximating war: And Provided, further, That any officer in the Medical Corps receiving or authorized to receive flight or sea duty pay has the option to receive the incentive pay authorized under this Act or the flight or sea duty pay, but in no case shall he be entitled to receive both.

Section 2. Any provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding and subject to such rules and qualifications as may be prescribed by the Secretary of National Defense, the Secretary of National Defense may commission any person admitted to the practice of medicine in the Philippines to the rank of first lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Section 3. The sum of three hundred and fifty thousand pesos or so much thereof as may be necessary is hereby authorized to be appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated to carry out the purposes of this Act.

Section 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
