REPUBLIC ACT No. 2367
An Act to Appropriate the Sum of Fifty Thousand Pesos for the Holding of the XIVth World Congress on Tourism in the Philippines in November, Nineteen Hundred Fifty-Nine, and for the Acquisition and Installation of Adequate Conference Equipment, Services and Supplies
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:
WHEREAS, President Carlos P. Garcia has invited the International Union of Official Travel Organizations, a United Nations consultative organ, to hold the XIVth World Congress on Tourism in the Philippines in November, nineteen hundred fifty-nine and the Union has unanimously accepted the invitation.
WHEREAS, this Congress, with a sixty-seven countries participating as members, besides international organizations actively promoting or engaged in the travel trade, will focus world attention on the unlimited potentials of the tourist industry which our government aims to exploit fully in the interest of a richer Philippine economy; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and essential that the World Congress on Tourism be afforded every modern convenience and service now normal to present-day international conferences in order to assure satisfaction to the participants and so as to place the Philippines, as host, in the most favorable light possible; Now, therefore:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated the sum of fifty thousand pesos, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to cover expenses required for the holding of the World Congress on Tourism in November, nineteen hundred fifty-nine, including the acquisition and installation of modern conference hall equipment and facilities, communication and transportation services and essential conference supplies.1âшphi1
Section 2. The fund hereby appropriated shall be made immediately available upon approval of this Act and be at the disposal of the Board of Travel and Tourist Industry, which shall be responsible for its expenditure as well as for the safekeeping and any future use of the conference equipment to be acquired.
Section 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
