REPUBLIC ACT No. 1808
An Act to Grant a Life Pension to General Emilio Aguinaldo and for Other Purposes
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:
WHEREAS, by Act Numbered Two thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, approved on March 24, 1920, the Philippine Legislature granted a life pension of twelve thousand pesos a year, payable in monthly installments at the end of each month, to General Emilio Aguinaldo is recognition of his services to the cause of the Philippine Revolution;
WHEREAS, for some reason or another, the said life pension granted him was stopped effective January first, nineteen hundred and thirty-nine, by the express repeal of Act Numbered Two thousand nine hundred and twenty-two by Commonwealth Act Numbered Two hundred and eighty-eight;
WHEREAS, the Filipino people owe a lasting debt of gratitude to General Aguinaldo for his services to the Philippines as the country's Revolutionary leader and as President of the First Philippine Republic; and
WHEREAS, his need for a life pension has become urgent due to his old age and his consequential physical inability to engage in any gainful trade or occupation; Now, therefore:
Section 1. There is hereby granted to General Emilio Aguinaldo a life pension of twelve thousand pesos a year payable in equal monthly installments.
Section 2. The sum necessary to pay said pension from the approval of this Act until and including the fiscal year nineteen hundred fifty-seven to nineteen hundred fifty-eight is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Therefore, the sum necessary therefor shall be included in the annual General Appropriation Act.
Section 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
