[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 959, June 20, 1953 ]

ACT CREATING THE POSITION OF WATERWORKS SUPERINTENDENT UNDER THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT IN THE CITY OF SAN PABLO, AND INCREASING THE SALARIES OF THE ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY AND THE CHIEF OF THE SECRET SERVICE THEREOF, BY AMENDING COMMONWEALTH ACT NUMBERED FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF SAN PABLO.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Between sections twenty-two and twenty-three of Commonwealth Act Numbered Five hundred and twenty, a new section is hereby inserted to be known as section 22-A, which shall read as follows:

"Section 22-A. There shall be a Waterworks Superintendent, who shall, under the direct supervision of the City Engineer, have charge of the maintenance and operation of the City Waterworks System and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned to him by the City Engineer, or prescribed by law or ordinance. He shall assist the City Engineer, in advisory capacity, during session in the Municipal Board on all matters affecting or relating to the operation of the City Waterworks System and shall assist the City Attorney and/or City Engineer in all hearings in the Public Service Commission in any case arising out of the operation of the Waterworks System. The Waterworks Superintendent shall receive a salary not exceeding four thousand five hundred pesos per annum, chargeable against the Waterworks Fund."

Section 2. The first paragraph of section twenty-four of the same Act, as amended, is further amended to read as follows:

Section 24. The City Attorney and Assistant City Attorney—Their powers and duties.1a⍵⍴h!1—The City Attorney shall be the chief legal adviser of the city. The City Attorney and the Assistant City Attorney shall receive a salary not exceeding five thousand seven hundred pesos and three thousand six hundred pesos, respectively, per annum. The City Attorney shall have the following powers and duties:

Section 3. The last paragraph of section twenty-six of the same Act is amended to read as follows:

The Chief of the Secret Service shall receive a salary not exceeding three thousand pesos per annum

Section 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
