PRESIDENTIAL DECREE No. 616 December 19, 1974
GRANTING PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP TO TWELVE JESUIT MISSIONARIES
WHEREAS, the following Jesuit missionaries have manifested their desire to become Philippine citizen.
1. Andechega, Juan | 7. McCarthy, Charles |
2. Barbero, Maximo | 8. Papilla, Louis |
3. Calle, Jose | 9. Parisi, Francis |
4. Caycedo, Jose | 10. Ricard, Albert |
5. Clifford, Daniel | 11. Tritz, Pierre |
6. Kaufmann, Joseph | 12. Zuloaga, Ismael |
WHEREAS, these missionaries have mingled socially with the Filipino people, embraced their customs, traditions and ideals, and learned to speak one of the Philippine dialects; and
WHEREAS, by virtue of their long and invaluable service to the Filipino people, these missionaries have proven themselves worthy of all the rights, privileges and prerogatives of citizens of this country;
WHEREAS, their superiors strongly recommend the grant of citizenship to them and the proper officials of the Philippine Government have recommended such grant of citizenship to them:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby grant Philippine Citizenship to:

This Decree is made part of the law of the land and shall take effect immediately.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 19th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-four.
