AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF THE NATIONAL LIBRARY TO NEGOTIATE AND CONSUMMATE THE PURCHASE OF PROFESSOR CRAIG'S COPYRIGHT IN THE BOOK "RIZAL'S OWN STORY OF HIS LIFE" TOGETHER WITH HIS PRESENT COLLECTION OF PHILIPPINE MATERIALS AND HIS UNPUBLISHED WRITINGS AND STUDIES ABOUT THE PHILIPPINES, AND TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE.
Be it enacted by the National Assembly of the Philippines:
Section 1. The Director of the National Library, subject to the approval of the Department Head, is hereby-authorized to negotiate and consummate the purchase, from Professor Austin Craig or from his heirs, assigns or successors, of the copyright in the book "Rizal's Own Story of His Life" which was edited by him, the purchase to include Professor Craig's present collection of Philippine materials consisting of papers and documents on the Islands, as well as his unpublished writings and studies about the Philippines, all of which shall be preserved and administered by the National Library in accordance with section sixteen hundred and ninety-four of the Administrative Code.ℒαwρhi৷
Section 2. To carry out the purposes of this Act, the sum of fifteen thousand pesos or so much thereof as shall be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Philippine Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
Section 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
