AN ACT GIVING PREFERENCE FOR LOCAL CONCERNS AND LOCAL PRODUCTS IN THE PURCHASE OF GOVERNMENT SUPPLIES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in
Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

Section 1. The Insular Purchasing Agent, the director or chief of a bureau or office, the president of a board or commission, or any public officer charged with the purchase of materials and supplies for any public use, shall give preference to materials and supplies grown, made, and manufactured in the Philippine Islands or in the United States: Provided, That the prices of such materials and supplies do not exceed by more than five per cent the lowest bids presented for articles of foreign manufacture: And provided, further, That no supplies and materials shall be entitled to preference on which the major portion of the work of manufacturing was done outside the Philippine Islands or the United States.

Section 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.1aшphi1
