AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS ONE AND TWO OF ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY-THREE, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE THE SUM OF FIFTY THOUSAND PESOS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT, EQUIPMENT, MAINTENANCE, AND OPERATION OF SEED-FARMS FOR RICE, CORN, SUGAR CANE, AND OTHER STAPLE CROPS UNDER THE BUREAU OF AGRICULTURE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES", AS AMENDED BY ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-SIX HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FOUR.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in
Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

Section 1. Section one of Act Numbered Thirty-four hundred and forty-three entitled "An Act to appropriate the sum of fifty thousand pesos for the establishment, equipment, maintenance, and operation of seed-farms for rice, corn, sugar cane, and other staple crops under the Bureau of Agriculture, and for other purposes", as amended by Act Numbered Thirty-six hundred and twenty-four, is hereby further amended so as to read as follows:

"Section 1. There is hereby appropriated out of the funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of fifty thousand pesos to be used in the establishment, maintenance, equipment, and operation of seed farms and experiment stations for the purpose of raising selected and pedigreed seeds-rice, corn, sugar cane, coffee, coconut, cacao, rubber, abaca, tobacco, cotton, onion, and other staple crops, as well as fruits and tubers, for distribution to the farmers throughout the Philippine Islands, in accordance with the provisions of this Act."

Section 2. Section two of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:

"Section 2. The money appropriated by this Act shall be disbursed by the Director of Plant Industry, with the approval of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, for salaries and wages of the necessary personnel; for the purchase of implements, work animals, seed materials; for the purchase or rent of the necessary land; for the construction, maintenance, and repair of buildings, seed bodegas, fences and other necessary structures; and for such other expenditures as may be deemed necessary for the proper carrying out of the purposes of this Act: Provided, That any unexpended balance of the fund herein appropriated at the end of each fiscal year shall not revert to the Insular Treasury but shall be used for the purposes for which it was appropriated: Provided, further, That any income that may be realized from the sale of seed materials, shoots, plants, and other products derived from the plants grown in the seed-farms and experimental stations, and articles so produced and elaborated so that they can be sold in the market at nominal cost shall become a part of the revolving fund which shall be used and expended exclusively for the purposes of, and in the same manner as, the original appropriation."

Section 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.1aшphi1
