[ Act No. 3857, November 12, 1931 ]
AN ACT GRANTING RETIREMENT GRATUITY TO HONORABLE MIGUEL UNSON, SECRETARY OF FINANCE, UPON HIS RESIGNATION FROM THE GOVERNMENT SERVICE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in
Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:
Section 1. Upon resignation from the service of the Honorable Miguel Unson, Secretary of Finance, who has rendered faithful and efficient service in the Government during more than thirty years, he shall be considered retired under Act Numbered Twenty-five hundred and eighty-nine, as amended, and shall be paid a gratuity in an amount equal to that granted to an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court as provided for in Act Numbered Thirty-three hundred and sixty: Provided, however, That the full amount of the gratuity herein granted shall be paid at once upon his retirement from the service: And provided, further, That in the event of death before the gratuity is paid the amount hereof shall be payable to his estate.
Section 2. The acceptance by Honorable Miguel Unson of the gratuity herein granted, implies his renunciation to the gratuity to which he may be entitled under Act Numbered twenty-five hundred and eighty-nine, as amended, up to the date of the approval of this Act: Provided, however, That in case that at any future time said Act Numbered Twenty-five hundred and eighty-nine is further amended or a new act is passed, under the provisions of which, Honorable Miguel Unson might be entitled, on account of the services rendered by him to the Government, to a gratuity or pension the money value of which is greater than the money value of the gratuity granted in this Act, the difference between the former and the latter shall be paid to him.1aшphi1
Section 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
