[ Act No. 2976, February 21, 1921 ]

AN ACT APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF TEN THOUSAND PESOS FOR THE WORK OF ENLIGHTENING THE PUBLIC ON THE SUBJECT OF CANCER AND ITS DANGERS, AND TO FURNISH, TIMELY AND ADEQUATE TREATMENT TO CANCER PATIENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in
Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

Section 1.The sum of ten thousand pesos, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to carry on the work of the Committee on Cancer of the Medical Association of the Philippine Islands.

Section 2. The funds appropriated by this Act shall be disbursed exclusively for the purchase or preparation of material for the dissemination of knowledge regarding cancer; for the payment of the transportation of poor patients from their places of residence to Manila or other places where they may receive suitable treatment; for the actual and necessary expenses of volunteer lecturers in connection with said propaganda, and, if deemed necessary by the Committee, for the employment of a temporary secretary, with an annual compensation not to exceed six hundred pesos.ℒαwρhi৷

Section 3. This sum shall be payable by the Insular Treasurer, subject to the orders of the Committee on Cancer of the Medical Association of the Philippine Islands, upon the signature of the chairman thereof: Provided, That not more than five thousand pesos shall be paid out in any one year.

Section 4. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
