AN ACT AUTHORIZING MUNICIPAL COUNCILS TO APPROPRIATE AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH YEAR A CERTAIN SUM OUT OF THE SCHOOL FUNDS FOR THE CREATION AND MAINTENANCE OF NIGHT SCHOOLS IN ENGLISH IN THEIR RESPECTIVE MUNICIPALITIES, UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:

Section 1. Municipal councils are hereby authorized to appropriate at the beginning of each year a certain sum out of the school funds for the maintenance of night schools in English to be created by virtue of this Act in their respective municipalities, under the following conditions:

(a) That one hundred pupils at least, with the assent of the school superintendent of the province, petition the municipal council for their creation.

(b) That the salary of any teacher who is to attend and teach in said schools shall not be greater than twenty pesos.

Section 2. The superintendent shall appoint a teacher for each school, giving preference to the public school teachers of each municipality, and shall fix the salary in accord with the respective municipal council and subject to the limitation contained in paragraph (5)  of section one.(awÞhi(

Section 3. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the same shall take effect on its passage, in accordance with section one of Act Numbered Nineteen hundred and forty-five of the Philippine Legislature.
