AN ACT AMENDING ACT NUMBERED EIGHTEEN HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-SIX, ENTITLE "AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PROVINCE TO BE KNOWN AS THE MOUNTAIN PROVINCE, FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PRISON AT BONTOC FOR NON-CHRISTIAN CRIMINALS, CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE PROVINCE OF NUEVA VIZCAYA, AMENDING ACT NUMBERED EIGHT HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN, AS AMENDED, BY CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE MOUNTAIN JUDICIAL DISTRICT AND THE TIMES AND PLACES OF HOLDING COURTS OF FIRST INSTANCE IN THE SAID DISTRICT, PROVIDING FOR PARTICIPATION BY THE MOUNTAIN PROVINCE IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF INTERNAL-REVENUE COLLECTIONS, AND REPEALING ALL ACTS OR PARTS OF ACTS INCONSISTENT WITH THIS ACT," SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT DEPUTIES OF THE PROVINCIAL SECRETARY-TREASURER SHALL COLLECT FEES FOR RECORDING DOCUMENTS OR INSTRUMENTS PERTAINING TO MINING AND MINERAL CLAIMS AND ACCOUNT THEREFOR, AND SHALL PERFORM THE DUTIES OF MINING RECORDERS IN THE SUBPROVINCES OF BENGUET AND LEPANTO.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:

Section 1. Paragraph (i) of section two of Act Numbered ; Eighteen hundred and seventy-six, entitled "An Act providing for the establishment of a province to be known as the Mountain Province, for the establishment of a prison at Bontoc for non-Christian criminals, changing the boundaries of the Province of Nueva Vizcaya, amending Act Numbered Eight hundred and sixty-seven, as amended, by changing the boundaries of the Mountain Judicial District and the times and places of holding Courts of First instance in the said district, providing for participation by the Mountain Province in the distribution of internal-revenue collections, and repealing all Acts or parts of Acts inconsistent with this Act," is hereby amended to read as follows:

"(i) There shall be a secretary-treasurer of the province who shall reside and have his office at the capital of the province.   He shall receive compensation at, the rate of not to exceed five thousand pesos per annum, with quarters. The duties required by law to be performed by the provincial treasurer with respect to the collection of fees for recording documents or instruments pertaining to mining and mineral claims and accounting therefor, and those required by law to be performed by the provincial secretary as ex-officio mining recorder, shall, in the subprovinces of Benguet and Lepanto, be performed by the deputies of the provincial secretary-treasurer, who shall reside and have their offices at the respective capitals of said subprovinces and all records pertaining to mining and mineral claims in said subprovinces shall be retained at the respective capitals of said subprovinces."

Section 2.1aшphi1 The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of ''An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

Section 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
