[ Act No. 1769, October 11, 1907 ]
AN ACT AMENDING ACT NUMBERED THIRTEEN HUNDRED AND NINETY- SIX, ENTITLED "THE SPECIAL PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT ACT," BY AUTHORIZING- PROVINCIAL BOARDS TO GRANT LICENSES FOR COLLECTING EDIBLE BIRDS' NESTS AND TO MAKE REGULATIONS TO PREVENT THE EXTERMINATION OF THE BIRDS THAT BUILD SUCH NESTS.
By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:
Section 1. Section seventeen of Act Numbered Thirteen hundred and ninety-six, entitled "The Special Provincial Government Act. "hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following paragraph:
"(s) To license collectors of edible birds' nests and to fix the fees which shall be charged for the issuance of such licenses, and protect edible birds' to make such regulations as may be necessary to prevent the extermination of the birds that build edible nests and the consequent destruction of the edible birds' nest industry. Any person collecting such without a license or violating any of such regulations each offense, be punished by a fine not exceeding one pesos, or by imprisonment not exceeding thirty days, or such fine, and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court.ℒαwρhi৷ The taking of one nest without a license shall constitute an offenses derived from the issuance of such licenses and from any collected for violation of such regulations shall be paid into the township and settlement fund."
Section 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.
Section 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
