AN ACT ESTABLISHING IN MANILA AN INSULAR MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY, NATURAL HISTORY, AND COMMERCE, AND APPROPRIATING EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS, IN MONEY OF THE UNITED STATES, FOR MAINTAINING THE SAME AND FOR PAYING THE EXPENSES OF COLLECTING, CARING FOR, AND PRESERVING THE OBJECTS ILLUSTRATING THE ETHNOLOGY OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS.
By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:
Section 1. There is hereby established in Manila, under the Department of Public Instruction, an Insular Museum of Ethnology, Natural History, and Commerce, and the same is hereby placed, temporarily, under the immediate direction of the Chief of the Bureau of Non-Christian Tribes.
Section 2. The sum of eight thousand dollars, in money of the United States, is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for paying the expenses of collecting objects illustrating the ethnology, natural history, and commerce of the Philippine Islands, for caring for and preserving these objects, and for meeting the necessary expenses involved in maintaining the Museum of Ethnology, Natural History, and Commerce established by this Act.1aшphi1
Section 3. The disbursing officer of the funds provided under this Act is hereby authorized to advance to the Chief of the Bureau of Non-Christian Tribes, upon his request, from time to time, such bums out of this appropriation as he may find necessary for the purchases, either personally or through agents by him designated for that purpose, and for the collecting of objects by this Act authorized to be purchased or collected, all such expenditures to be properly accounted for in accordance with law.
Section 4. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.
Section 5. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
