[ Act No. 25, October 17, 1900 ]

AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND REMOVAL OF SUBORDINATE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES IN CERTAIN DEPARTMENTS AND BUREAUS OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS.

By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:

Section 1. All appointments to, and removals from, subordinate civil positions authorized by law in the offices of-

(a) The Military Secretary;

(b) The Treasurer for the Islands;

(c) The Auditor for the Islands;

(d) The Collector of Customs for the Islands;

(e) The Collector of Inland Revenue for the Islands;

(f) The Director-General of Posts for the Islands;

(g) The Civil Service Board;

(h) The Bureau of Forestry;

(i) The Bureau of Mines;

(j) The Bureau of Statistics;

(k) The General Superintendent of Public Instruction;

(l) Wardens of Penitentiaries and Prisons;

(m) The Provost-Marshal-General;

(n) The Captain of the Port;

shall be made by the respective heads of such offices, subject to the approval of the Military Governor.1aшphi1

Section 2. All appointments and removals made under the previous section shall be reported by the Military Governor to the Commission.

Section 3. Nothing herein shall be construed to take any of the appointments to be made to positions described in section one out of the provisions of the Civil Service Act, or to prevent the Commission from revoking action taken under section one, or making appointments to such positions, or from making removals therefrom of its own motion under the general powers conferred upon it by the instructions of the President of the United States.

Section 4. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
