[ PROCLAMATION NO. 1205, March 30, 2026 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD OF 10 TO 16 APRIL OF EVERY YEAR AS THE "ECONOMY, PLANNING, AND DEVELOPMENT WEEK" AND THE 10TH OF APRIL OF EVERY YEAR AS THE "DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMY, PLANNING, AND DEVELOPMENT DAY"

WHEREAS, socioeconomic planning and development in the Philippines has institutionalized since 23 December 1935 through the enactment of Commonwealth Act No. 2, which created the National Economic Council, the forerunner agency of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA);

WHEREAS, Executive Order (EO) No. 230 (s. 1987) reorganized the NEDA to enhance its ability to coordinate the development planning and policy formulation process, in order to achieve the objectives of sustainable economic growth coupled with an equitable distribution of income and wealth;

WHEREAS, Section, Chapter 1, Subtitle C, Title II, Book V of EO No. 292 or the "Administrative Code of 1987" provides that the NEDA shall serve as an independent planning agency of the government;

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 666 (s. 1990) declared the period of 17 to 23 December of every year as the "Socio-Economic Planning and Development Week" and the 23rd of December of every year as the "NEDA Day" to reaffirm the government's commitment to socio economic planning and development and to annually celebrate the foundation day of NEDA;

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 12145 or the "Economy, Planning, and Development Act" reorganized the NEDA into the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) to strengthen its mandate, institutional independence, and capacity as the primary policy, planning, coordinating, and monitoring arm of the Executive Branch on matters concerning the national economy, thereby repealing EO No. 230and amending EO No. 292;

WHEREAS, in view of the reorganization of NEDA into DEPDev, there is a need to repeal Proclamation No. 666 to align with agency's new institutional framework and further promote public awareness and appreciation of the importance of socioeconomic planning and development in advancing inclusive and sustainable national development; and

WHEREAS, Section 17, Article VII of the Constitution vests in the President the power of control over all the Executive departments, bureaus, and offices, and the mandate to ensure the faithful execution of laws;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND R. MARCOS, JR., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare the period of 10 to 16 April of every year as the "Economy, Planning, and Development Week" and the 10th of April of every year as the "DEPDev Day."

For this purpose, the DEPDev is hereby directed to lead the observance of the Economy, Planning, and Development Week and the DEPDev Day, and identify the programs, projects and activities for the yearly celebration thereof.ℒαwρhi৷

All other agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations and state universities and colleges, are hereby directed, and all local govenrment units, non-government organizations, and the private sector are hereby encouraged, to actively participate in the aforementioned observance and render necessary support to the DEPDev for the effective implementation of this Proclamation.

Proclamation No. 666 (s. 1990) is hereby repealed. All other issuances, orders, rules and regulations, or parts thereof that are inconsistent with this Proclamation, are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.
