[ PROCLAMATION NO. 849, August 14, 2014 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, 18 AUGUST 2014, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF NAGA

WHEREAS, Jesse M. Robredo was appointed as the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and as a champion of good governance, was instrumental in the implementation of far-reaching reforms in local governance;

WHEREAS, Secretary Robredo served with utmost dedication as Mayor of Naga City from 1988 to 1998 and from 2001 to 2010;

WHEREAS, his outstanding performance as Mayor of Naga earned him numerous awards such as the Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2000, the first Filipino Mayor to be conferred the distinction;

WHEREAS, on 18 August 2012, the nation lost one of its great leaders and public servants when Jesse M. Robredo passed away in a tragic plane accident; and

WHEREAS, Secretary Robredo is considered as one of the local heroes of Naga City;

WHEREAS, his many virtues as a public servant have permanently earned for him the gratitude of the City he led, and the Republic he served.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAQUITO N. OCHOA, JR., Executive Secretary, by authority of his Excellency BENIGNO S. AQUINO III, do hereby declare Monday, 18 August 2014, as a special (non-working) day in the City of Naga.ℒαwρhi৷
