DECLARING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2009, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF IFUGAO

WHEREAS, Wednesday, September 2, 2009 marks the 64th anniversary of the surrender of Japanese forces under General Tomoyuki Yamashita to the combined Filipino and American farces in Kiangan, Ifugao;

WHEREAS, the conclusion of the Second World War in the Philippines is a moment of glory in our national history;

WHEREAS, in order to give the people of the Province of Ifugao the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, it is fitting to declare September 2, 2009 as special non-working day.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Wednesday, September 2, 2009, as special (non-working) day in the Province of Ifugao.
