DECLARING MAY 4 TO 10, 2009 AS “PHILIPPINE MOTORCYCLISTS WEEK” IN CELEBRATION OF THE 15TH NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE CONVENTION OF THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF MOTORCYCLE CLUBS OF THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, the use of motorcycles by Filipinos has increased throughout the years and there is a need to promote road safety, courtesy, and discipline, as well as eco-consciousness to motorcycle users and the general public;

WHEREAS, the National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMCP) will hold the 15th National Convention on May 8-10, 2009 to promote awareness regarding the proper use and role of motorcycles in Philippine society;

WHEREAS, in recognition of the important role of motorcycles as a mode of transportation for millions of Filipinos, a proclamation is hereby adopted highlighting the need for increased awareness for motorcycle use in the Philippines.

NOW, THEREFORE, I GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines by the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare May 4 to 10, 2009 as “Philippine Motorcyclists Week”.(awÞhi(

The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), in partnership with other concerned agencies, the NFMCP, and other organizations concerned, shall coordinate the observance of the “Philippine Motorcyclists Week”, through conducting activities that would promote road safety courtesy and discipline, and eco-consciousness in the use of motorcycles in the Philippines.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
