DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL 2005 AS TAX AWARENESS MONTH

WHEREAS, taxation plays a pivotal and crucial role in nation building;

WHEREAS, increased revenue generation is urgently needed to finance and sustain vital economic and development programs of the government;

WHEREAS, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, being the premier revenue-generating agency of the country, needs all the support it can get from various sectors of society in instilling awareness on the various requirements of taxation and the benefits of taxes to the country;

WHEREAS, the observance of Tax Awareness Month will be a step towards promoting, enhancing and instilling nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of taxes to our society, while at the same time, obtaining the support and commitment of the taxpaying public to help improve the tax collection of the country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of April 2005 as Tax Awareness Month under the auspices of the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

All departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the national government, local government units, government-owned or controlled corporations, the private sector, and the public at large are hereby enjoined to actively support the activities and programs for the Tax Awareness Month.ℒαwρhi৷

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
