[ PROCLAMATION NO. 692, August 13, 2004 ]

DECLARING OCTOBER 1, 2004 AS SPECIAL WORKING HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF OCCIDENTAL MINDORO

WHEREAS, the Tamaraw, scientifically known as Bubalus Mindorensia, is an endangered wildlife specie that faces high-risk of extinction;

WHEREAS, Tamaraw is a natural heritage of the Mindoro island provinces and a biological resource that has historical, educational, ecological and scientific values which should be treasured by the Mindoreņos;

WHEREAS, in line with the celebration of Tamaraw Conservation Month in Occidental Mindoro, as embodied in Proclamation No. 273 dated October 14, 2002, there is in need to declare October 1 of every year as official working holiday to instill into the minds of the populace of the Province of Mindoro the importance of Tamaraw conservation and their habitat.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALBERTO G. ROMULO, Executive Secretary, by order of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare October 1, 2004, as special working holiday in the Province of Occidental Mindoro.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
