[ PROCLAMATION NO. 463, September 09, 2003 ]

RENAMING THE OLD CABINET ROOM, KALAYAAN HALL, MALACAŅANG PALACE IN HONOR OF PRESIDENT SERGIO OSMEŅA

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2 dated May 6, 1998 by the National Historical Institute and Presidential Decree No. 260 dated August 1, 1973, declared Malacaņang Palace a National Historical Landmark;

WHEREAS, every past administration in the country reflects a particular period in our nation's rich history; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malacaņang Palace, residence and office of the President of the Philippines should recognize the historic connection past presidents have with Malacaņang Palace.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby rename the old Cabinet Room, on the first floor of Kalayaan Hall, Malacaņang Palace, as the Osmeņa Room, in recognition of the historic value of the room in which President Osmeņa attended meetings of the Council of State when he was Speaker of the House, and then as Vice President and Secretary of Public Instruction, and used thereafter during his presidency, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of President Sergio Osmeņa's service to the nation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the sea! of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.ℒαwρhi৷
