DECLARING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, OCTOBER 31, 2001 AND FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2001 AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAYS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, paying homage to the dead on All Saints Day, celebrated on the first day of November of every year, is one of our most cherished traditions;

WHEREAS, All Saints Day, which is a Nationwide Special Day, falls on a Thursday, November 1, 2001;

WHEREAS, to give full opportunity to our people to properly observe the day with all its religious fervor, which invariable requires them to travel to different regions of the country, and upon the recommendation of the Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Wednesday, October 31, 2001, beginning at 12:01 p.m., and Friday, November 2, 2001 may be declared as special (non-working) days without detriment to the public interest;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Wednesday, October 31, 2001, beginning at 12:01 p.m., and Friday, November 2, 2001 as special (non-working) days throughout the country.1aшphi1
