[ Proclamation No. 645, September 4, 1995 ]

DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCE OF BATANES WHICH WAS ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY TYPHOON “GENING”

WHEREAS, the Secretary of National Defense and Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) recommends the declaration of a state of calamity in the Province of Batanes in view of the impact of typhoon Gening which has severely affected the residents of the area;

WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for the declaration of a state of calamity in the area in order that the concerned local government units may make use of its calamity fund for the relief and other emergency requirements of the affected constituents;

NOW THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare that a state of calamity exists in the Province of Batanes.

All departments and other government agencies are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans, directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.1aшphi1
