DECLARING MARCH 23 OF EVERY YEAR AS NATIONAL METEOROLOGICAL DAY

WHEREAS, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as an intergovernmental organization was created when the WMO Convention came into force on March 23, 1950;

WHEREAS, the responsibilities of WMO are fundamental to efforts to attain both sustainable development and sound environmental management;

WHEREAS, the Philippines is a member of WMO;

WHEREAS, since 23 March 1961, WMO annually celebrates World Meteorological Day to commemorate the Convention of WMO;

WHEREAS, this celebration affords a vast opportunity to bring to the attention of everyone the importance of Meteorology and Hydrology in the various national development efforts;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare March 23 of every year as National Meteorological Day.1aшphi1
