[ Proclamation No. 315, December 23, 1993 ]

DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF CALAMITY IN CERTAIN AREAS OF THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, according to the Secretary of National Defense, Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, certain areas of the country were inundated due to Typhoon “Naning”;

WHEREAS, there is urgent need for the declaration of a state of public calamity in said areas to normalize the situation and hasten the rehabilitation efforts of the concerned line member-agencies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare that a state of public calamity exists in the following provinces:

1. Sorsogon

2. Masbate

3. Romblon

4. Northern Samar

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.
