[ Proclamation No. 281, October 25, 1993 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1993, AS “EUGENIO DAZA DAY,” IN THE PROVINCE OF EASTERN SAMAR

WHEREAS, Monday, November 15, 1993 marks the 123rd birth anniversary of the late Revolutionary hero Eugenio S. Daza;

WHEREAS, Eugenio S. Daza rendered invaluable service to our country and to the Filipino people as educator, revolutionary leader, and member of the First Philippine Assembly in 1907;

WHEREAS, Major Eugenio S. Daza was the overall Commander of the Revolutionary Forces in the east coast of Samar during the 1896 Philippine Revolution; and the one who planned the attack that led to the victory of the Revolutionary Forces in the famous “Balangiga Massacre Encounter” on September 28, 1901;

WHEREAS, in line with “The Decade of Nationalism, Nationhood, and the Philippine Revolutionary Movement,” it is fitting and proper to honor and emulate the heroism and patriotism of Major Eugenio S. Daza and to give the people of Borongan, Eastern Samar, full opportunity to commemorate the day with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare, Monday, November 15, 1993, as “Eugenio S. Daza Day” in the Province of Eastern Samar.ℒαwρhi৷

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
