[ Proclamation No. 258, September 20, 1993 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER 21 TO 27, 1993 AS NATIONAL TOURISM WEEK

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the state to promote, encourage, and develop Philippine Tourism as a major national activity;

WHEREAS, the World Tourism Organization (WTO) declared 27 September as World Tourism Day;

WHEREAS, the Philippines adheres to and adopts the policy of cooperation and amity with all nations;

WHEREAS, it is proper and fitting that a week corresponding to the above proclamation of the WTO be designated and proclaimed as “National Tourism Week” to install national consciousness on tourism as a positive instrument towards accelerated national development, unity, and identity as a nation by learning more about the countrys natural beauty, history and culture.ℒαwρhi৷

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from September 21 to 27, 1993 as “National Tourism Week” under the auspices of the Department of Tourism.

This supersedes Proclamation No. 549, dated April 6, 1990

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 20Th day of September in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety three.
