DECLARING A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN VARIOUS PROVINCES AND CITIES IN LUZON

I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare, upon the recommendation of the Chairman, National Disaster Coordinating Council, a state of public calamity in the following provinces and cities in Luzon which were severely affected by torrential rains and heavy flooding brought about by Typhoon “Goring”:

Provinces of:

Aurora Ilocos Norte
Quirino Ilocos Sur
Nueva Vizcaya Pangasinan
Nueva Ecija Quezon
Benguet Abra
Ifugao Kalinga-Apayao
Mt. Province La Union
Isabela Cagayan

Cities of:

Cabanatuan Dagupan
Baguio Palayan
Laoag San Carlos

I also hereby authorize the release of the aggregate amount of Twenty-Five Million Pesos (P25,000,000.00) from the Calamity Fund, to be allocated among the foregoing provinces and cities in accordance with Annex “A”, to support the on-going disaster-relief operations being undertaken by the concerned Provincial Disaster Coordinating Councils and the City Disaster Coordinating Councils.

This confirms my earlier directive of 26 June 1993 to the Secretary of National Defense/Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, declaring a state of public calamity in the foregoing provinces and cities and approving the release of P25,000,000.00 from the Calamity Fund.ℒαwρhi৷
