[ Proclamation No. 187, June 2, 1993 ]

DECLARING 3 JUNE 1993, THURSDAY, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE AND CITY OF ILOILO

WHEREAS, the Province and City of Iloilo mourn the death of their beloved son, Hon. Fernando H. Lopez, who served the country in various capacities, including City Mayor of Iloilo, Secretary of Agriculture, Senator and Vice President of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the interment of Hon. Fernando H. Lopez is scheduled on 3 June 1993, in Iloilo City;

WHEREAS, the people of the Province and City of Iloilo desire to show their appreciation and gratitude for the services and dedication extended to them by Hon. Fernando H. Lopez by paying their last homage to him at his interment; and

WHEREAS, Section 27, Chapter 7, Book I of the Administrative Code of 1987 provides that the “President may proclaim any local special day for a particular date, group or place.”

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 3 June 1993, Thursday, as a special day in the Province and City of Iloilo.
