[ Proclamation No. 185, May 31, 1993 ]

DECLARING THE LAST WEEK OF JUNE OF EVERY YEAR AS “NATIONAL ORGAN AND BLOOD DONATION AWARENESS WEEK”

WHEREAS, the advancement in medical science has institutionalized organ transplantation as an invaluable procedure in surgical treatment;

WHEREAS, there is a need to encourage organ and blood donation and to increase public awareness of the need for such donations;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the last week of June of every year as “National Organ and Blood Donation Awareness Week”.

This supersedes Proclamation No. 569, dated May 17, 1990, declaring the month of June of every year as “National Organ Donation Awareness Month.”

The Department of Health shall be the lead agency in the implementation of this Proclamation.ℒαwρhi৷
