DECLARING A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCE OF BASILAN

I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare, upon the recommendation of the Chairman, National Disaster Coordinating Council, a state of public calamity in the Province of Basilan which has been adversely affected by continued military operations against rebels belonging to the Moro National Liberation Front.ℒαwρhi৷ I also hereby authorize the release from the calamity fund of One Million Pesos (P1,000,000.00) for the said province to support the on-going relief efforts undertaken by the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council to assist the families who have been displaced by the continuing military operations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
