[ Proclamation No. 63, October 2, 1992 ]

DECLARING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER AS THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT MONTH, THE SECOND WEEK OF OCTOBER AS THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT WEEK AND THE TENTH DAY OF OCTOBER AS THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT DAY

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, was signed into law on October 10, 1991;

WHEREAS, the State recognizes the local government units as partners of the national government in the attainment of national goals;

WHEREAS, The Constitution and the Code guarantee genuine and meaningful local autonomy to enable local government units to attain their fullest development as self-reliant communities;

WHEREAS, in recognition of and to accentuate their efforts and contributions towards nation-building, it is imperative to designate a period exclusively for local governments.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of October as the Local Government Month, the Second Week of October as the Local Government Week and the Tenth Day of October as the Local Government Day.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and cause the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
