[ Proclamation No. 55, September 22, 1992 ]

DECLARING THE MONTH OF JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR AS POLICE SERVICE MONTH

WHEREAS, the Philippine National Police, an agency under the National Police Commission, plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of peace and order and national security;

WHEREAS, the discharge of police functions has direct and immediate impact on the quality of life and security of the citizens;

WHEREAS, there is need for increased sensitivity to crimes and disorder, necessitating greater public concern and support to law enforcement work;

WHEREAS, it is advisable that a month be set aside every year to focus nationwide attention on the significance of law enforcement and the maintenance of peace and order;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of January of every year as Police Service Month.

The National Police Commission shall be the lead agency in undertaking police-citizen activities nationwide during the said month.1aшphi1
