[ Proclamation No. 33, September 1, 1992 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE CANCER SOCIETY, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL, MEMBERSHIP AND FUND CAMPAIGN FROM SEPTEMBER 5, 1992, TO SEPTEMBER 4, 1993

WHEREAS, the Philippine Cancer Society a 100% non-profit organization established in 1957 for the purpose of combatting cancer, is purely dependent on voluntary contributions for the funding of its humanitarian services;

WHEREAS, statistics gathered by the Society from various local clinics and hospitals show that cancer is continuing as a serious health threat, being the fifth leading cause of death and sickness of our people;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Cancer Society, in response to this concern, is currently implementing a massive Information and Education campaign aimed at making our people more cancer conscious, so that, alerted on time concerning the symptoms of this dreaded disease, those afflicted may seek immediate treatment;

WHEREAS, in order to effectively carry out its noble objectives, the Society needs the financial and moral support of the public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., to conduct a national educational, membership and fund campaign from September 5, 1992, to September 4, 1993.1aшphi1

For this purpose, all donations, bequests and gifts received by the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., for the implementation of its programs and activities shall be entitled to all the tax exemption and deductibility benefits provided in the appropriate provisions of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended, and its implementing rules and regulations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
