DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 26 TO DECEMBER 2, 1990, AS “COMELEC WEEK”

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections, charged with the task of giving life and meaning to the principle that sovereignty resides in the people and all government authority emanates from them, is fifty years old on December 2, 1990, as a constitutional agency;

WHEREAS, the Commission will celebrate this milestone in its history with week-along activities and fitting ceremonies to focus public attention and awareness to the significance of elections and other political exercises, encourage maximum participation therein of the people, and highlight the efforts being undertaken by the Commission on Elections to ensure free, orderly, honest peaceful and credible elections as mandated by the Constitution;

WHEREAS, this Administration joins the Commission on Elections in the vigorous pursuit of these objectives, which deserves the wholehearted support of the citizenry;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 26 to December 2, 1990, as “COMELEC WEEK.”

I call on the people and all government agencies to give the observance of “COMELEC WEEK” their full support.ℒαwρhi৷
