[ Proclamation No. 592, June 25, 1990 ]

DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCES OF ANTIQUE AND AKLAN

WHEREAS, the Secretary of National Defense and Chairman, National Disaster Coordinating Council, recommends the declaration of a state of public calamity in the provinces of Antique and Aklan in view of the disastrous impact of the earthquake that occurred on June 14, 1990 followed by damaging aftershocks;

WHEREAS, damages to properties, particularly on houses and infrastructures such as roads and bridges, hospital and churches, seriously affect the normal living conditions of the people and the flow of trade, commerce, communication and transportation;

WHEREAS, the declaration of a state of public calamity in the affected areas will cushion the adverse effect of the earthquake and normalize the situation through the immediate implementation of rehabilitation programs of concerned line agencies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim that a state of public calamity exists in the provinces of Antique and Aklan.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.ℒαwρhi৷
