[ Proclamation No. 339, November 2, 1988 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 6 TO 12, 1988, AS THE PHILIPPINE BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY WEEK.

WHEREAS, the Philippines is in the process of implementing an economic recovery program with the private business and industry sectors as the engines of economic growth and development;

WHEREAS, in the course of economic recovery, it is paramount to support the drive to raise productivity and efficiency in the agricultural, industrial and services sectors with private sector initiatives favorable to the generation of investments, creation of livelihood opportunities, and rise in incomes and wages;

WHEREAS, recent economic growth indicators show the vital role of private business and industry initiatives in ushering in a new political, social and economic system anchored on democratic traditions;

WHEREAS, the annual gathering of Philippine business and industry policymakers in the 14th Philippine Business Conference organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be held on November 9–11, 1988 at the Philippine Plaza Hotel, CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Metro Manila; and

WHEREAS, there is need to commemorate said occasion in recognition of the Philippine business and industry sectors capacity to dynamically transform their way of doing business and contribute to the future of the nation if they act decisively and cohesively with persistence and courageous determination;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 6–12, 1988, as the Philippine Business and Industry Week under the auspices of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
