[ Proclamation No. 333, October 3, 1988 ]

DECLARING A DAY OF NATIONAL MOURNING OVER THE DEATH OF JOAQUIN “CHINO” ROCES, PUBLISHER, JOURNALIST AND FREEDOM FIGHTER.

WHEREAS, the death of Joaquin “Chino” Roces, Publisher, Journalist and Freedom Fighter, is a great loss to our people and has caused deep sorrow among them; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting to set aside a day of national mourning for such a great man;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare a day of national mourning on October 5, 1988, for our beloved Joaquin “Chino” Roces. During this day, flags of all government buildings and installations throughout the country shall be flown at half mast pursuant to Paragraph 2 of Executive Order No. 166, series of 1938, and Paragraph 12 of Executive Order No. 137, series of 1965.1aшphi1
