DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER 4 TO 10, 1988, AND THEREAFTER THE SECOND WEEK OF SEPTEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS THE HOTEL AND RESTAURANT INDUSTRY WEEK AND CREATING A COMMITTEE TO IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM INCIDENT THERETO.
WHEREAS, the government recognizes the important role played by the hotel and restaurant industry in the development and economic well-being of the Philippines;
WHEREAS, for this industrys contribution to national economic development – the employment it generates, the income derived from this industry and its significance to the overall cultural and social upliftment of our people – it is imperative that its vital role be fully understood, appreciated and supported by everyone in all segments of our society; and
WHEREAS, there is also need to provide recognition to hoteliers and restaurateurs as they strive to be more competitive in the local and world markets and place the Philippines in the forefront of hospitality in Asia and the world;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from September 4 to 10, 1988 and thereafter the second week of September of every year as the Hotel and Restaurant Industry Week.1aшphi1
To insure the proper observance of the Hotel and Restaurant Industry Week, the following heads of government agencies and private entities that are allied to the hotel and restaurant industry are hereby appointed to take charge of all appropriate celebrations and activities in connection with the Hotel and Restaurant Industry Week, to wit:
