[ Proclamation No. 302, August 5, 1988 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1988, AS A SPECIAL HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF CEBU AND THE CITIES OF CEBU, MANDAUE, LAPU-LAPU, DANAO AND TOLEDO

WHEREAS, Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr., second President of the Philippine Commonwealth, during his career as a public servant, espoused the cause of national unity, thus earning for himself the worthy appellation of “Apostle of National Unity”;

WHEREAS, this 9th of September is the 110th birth anniversary of this great Filipino; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that those who desire to honor him be afforded the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday, September 9, 1988, as a special holiday in the Province of Cebu and in the Cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Danao and Toledo.
