[ Proclamation No. 279, June 28, 1988 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JULY 11 TO 17 OF EVERY YEAR AS “BLOOD DONORS WEEK”.

WHEREAS, the Philippine National Red Cross Blood Program has contributed much to the promotion of general health and the saving of human lives by making available whole blood and blood components for therapeutic purposes; and

WHEREAS, the Philippine National Red Cross Blood Program is based on the voluntary and non-remunerated gifts of blood given by thousands of blood donors throughout the country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from July 11 to 17 of every year as “Blood Donors Week”.

I hereby call upon all residents of the Philippines to turn their thoughts to and be inspired to emulate the men and women in our country who freely and voluntarily give part of themselves to help those in need of blood and its components.1aшphi1

This Proclamation supersedes Proclamation No. 868, dated June 18, 1971.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
