DECLARING SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 1988, AS FRANCISCO (BALAGTAS) BALTAZAR DAY.

WHEREAS, the 2nd day of April marks the bicentenary of the birth of Francisco (Balagtas) Baltazar, Prince of Filipino poets and one of the great patriots of our country;

WHEREAS, by means of his Florante at Laura and other literary works, he was ahead of many of our noble heroes in blazing the path of Philippine nationalism;

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that our countrymen be given the opportunity to commemorate this event with appropriate activities and ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, April 2, 1988 as Francisco (Balagtas) Baltazar Day.ℒαwρhi৷

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
